Trying to be what you can't possibly be is the root of all your troubles. Trying to appear to be what you can't possibly be is worse. There is usefulness in everything, there is beauty to be found in the most trivial of things. There are people to seek and find these.
If you're not physically beautiful, you cannot possibly be physically beautiful, all your efforts will take your look no further than the level of bearable, or dull, or common, or whatever. If you're dumb, chances are you'll stay that way, regardless of the ammount of books you read. If you're scared, you'll stay scared. If you're cheap, you'll continue to be so.
This can be changed, but not by you. You cannot change, you're changed. And even that can be avoided: just keep on trying to be what you can't possibly be, and all change will pass you by.
Being a coward is better than trying to come across as otherwise. As a coward's coward you are at least extremely prudent, and that can be a great quality. There will definitely be a perfect place for you. But there's no place for cowardly heroes.
